Today we have a splendid apple smoothie recipe jam-packed with heart-healthy goodness for you. “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” – this age-old phrase speaks volumes to the health benefits associated with the consumption of apples.

Eating apples can help to promote weight loss, heart health, brain health and is also beneficial for people with diabetes and a range of other illnesses. Its high Vitamin C content helps to improve immune health as well so you can see why this is the second most eaten fruit in America, or maybe it’s just because it’s so yummy…..

Besides from the health benefits, apples are really good sweeteners and mix so well with other fruits. You should try making your smoothies with apples instead of sugars or other sweeteners for a change, your blood sugar level will thank you for it and you will still get that sweet taste you so love. Now before we blend up some smoothies a quick note:

Apple smoothies should be consumed right after blending because if you don’t it will end up thickening over time. This is because of the special fibers found in apples. But this isn’t really a problem. If your smoothie thickens up on you just add a few ice cubes, blend again and shake well. 🙂
