The name vegansta is a condensed form of two words, vegan and gangsta. Well, what can we say, we don’t think there is anything more gangsta, more hardcore, more heroic that being compassionate to animals, especially the ones that we don’t have to.

As the vegan movement grows across the globe and more and more people are stepping into this light we find it of paramount importance that the facts of the topic are laid out clearly and that we make no compromise just so that we can remain politically correct. Therefore, we will not beat around the bush. We will call a spade a spade and honey will be called bee vomit since that’s what it is.

But hey wait, I am sure that by now you must have realized that we source a lot of our info from Gary Yourofsky’s website known as www.adaptt.org. The reasons for this are plenty but to be short, Gary is the greatest vegan activist of all times who has single-handedly spearheaded they fight for animal liberal for over a decade. He represents everything that we stand for, hardcore compassion and has always been unwavering in his resolve. Furthermore, the content he presents is well articulated and presents infallible logic that has helped millions find their way.

It is for the above reasons that we have sourced so much content from adaptt.org. I guess the appropriate saying here will be “don’t reinvent the wheel”.

About myself.

Hi. I am Thrion Mitchell, the creator of vegansta and a vegan for the past three and a half years. I live in Jamaica and I am only 24 years of age. My life is guided by the simple principle of live and let live. In order words, I want to do whatever I feel, when, where, why and how I feel so long as I allow others to do the same. So we don’t have to see eye to eye on anything, we don’t even have to get along but we should at least not hinder each other in any way.

When I first became a vegan for a few months I actually considered myself as a vegetarian. I had no idea that there was such a big difference. In the back of my mind, I think every vegan is automatically a vegetarian if we use the true sense of the word which would be “one who feeds upon vegetation”. But in our world today the word is just used to refer to people who do not eat some types of animals. Hence we have people calling themselves octo and Lacto vegetarians.

He I got off track so now back to the script. As I was saying I didn’t even know that there was such a thing as Vegan until one of my good friends shared a post on Facebook entitled Gary Yourofsky the greatest speech ever. Since then I have been inspired to live a life of compassion towards all beings.

I hope you do find the info presented here on my blog insightful, helpful and that it resonates with your being. Peace and love.
